Fresh out of an abusive relationship, Aimee Slama found a sanctuary in martial arts. Under the tutelage of Mankato Martial Arts founder Bill Hough, she earned a black belt in Taekwondo. Two years later, Bill decided to implement a mixed martial arts program and Aimee was 1st in line. Now, she's ranked fourth in the state and holds the Brutaal promotion's 135 pound belt.
While she admits that explaining certain aspects of MMA fighting to her children can at times be challenging, Aimee feels that she's found a health medium between motherhood and MMA. When asked what advice she'd give to other women interested in martial arts, her answer is simple: just get in there and try it.
