Aikido derived from Daitoryu Aikijujitsu under the guidance of the founder Ueshiba Sensei. It emphasizes harmonious movement that redirects an opponents force while disturbing that opponent's balance giving the defender the advantage in the fight while avoiding causing harm to the attacker. Proper training in Aikido can augment any martial artist's skills and attitude. Mankato Martial Arts hosts two training sessions a week -- one on Wednesday evenings and one on Saturdays starting at noon. These sessions are attended by Aikido-sei from different systems including Yoshinkan and Akikai branches. This is a great opportunity to see techniques as taught by different branches all in the same training session.
